Animation Career

There was a time when working in animation pretty much meant that you were employed by a major television studio or Hollywood production firm. Outlets for animators were fairly limited to entertainment on the big or small screen. But these days, it's possible to launch an animation career in any number of industries. Advertising, marketing, film, television, Web design, videogame design, computer science, and even medicine all employ various types of animators on a regular basis. In fact, if you turn on your cell phone, chances are, there are some moving graphics somewhere in the menu options. Quite clearly, there are many different outlets for those interested in launching an animation career.

What Degree Programs Do I Need for an Animation Career?
Traditional art school can provide you with many of the tools you'll need for some animation careers. Whether you secure a certificate, associate degree, or something much higher, you'll master basic drawing, storyboards, character development, and other essential parts of animation. But computers have helped revolutionize the animation industry, so if you really want to transform yourself into an attractive prospect, mastering various programming languages through graphic design school, computer science school, video design school, advertising school, marketing school, or other related programs, is probably a good idea. What level of training you acquire will ultimately depend on what type of animation career you plan to pursue. Web designers, for example, can often get by with a handful of certifications, while advertising firms tend to favor those with more in-depth training.
