Electrical Engineer Career

What Type Of Work Will I Do In An Electrical Engineer Career?

Virtually everyone has turned on a room light, flown in an airplane, operated an electric power window in an automobile, or some sort of electronic device at one time or another. The people who are responsible for the development, design, and formative planning for these products are electrical engineers.

Electrical engineers build and design products such as machinery controls, wiring in buildings; electric motors; cars; aircraft; navigation devices, and transmission equipment used by electric utility companies. Projects are usually started by creating prototypes and demonstration models to assess the feasibility of the proposed component.

An electrical engineer may also be involved in troubleshooting devices that are defective and track down the cause of the malfunctioning mechanism. In other cases, an electrical engineer is given the task of improving or streamlining an existing product.

What Education Will Prepare Me For An Electrical Engineer Career?

Electrical engineers must posses a thorough understanding across many disciplines such as design production, mathematics, physics, electronics, engineering, computers, and design software. In general, the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. Advancement opportunities and access to more complex jobs will require a master's degree or PhD.

Obtaining the proper career training is essential for a career in electrical engineering. Choose your school and programs wisely and you'll be on your way in qualifying for job opportunities in this competitive career field.
